Best Gas Grill Under $300
Choosing between a gas grill and a charcoal grill is difficult and families are pretty evenly divided on the issue with reportedly 60% gas grills and 40% charcoal grills sold last year. The pure taste advantage of the charcoal grill is quite tempting, but the ease of use, time factors, detailed controls, and lack of fussiness make gas grills extremely attractive for many outdoor chefs. The single biggest advantage of a charcoal grill is that it gets much hotter than a gas grill. The clean up requirements on a charcoal grill is enough to deter some buyers. People also appreciate the convenience of knob temperature controls on gas grills and that they warm up and cool down faster than charcoal grills. The advantages of cooking with a gas grill extend beyond convenience. A gas grill is less expensive to operate than a charcoal grill as you will spend less money on fuel. It can be difficult to choose among the different gas grills on the market – there are a large variety of gas grills to choose from with many different features and options. It can be hard to make the right choice when shopping for a grill as there are not many ways to test them out and see how well they cook, and how well they fit the specific needs of the grill user. With this in mind, we hope to shed some light on the options available for gas grills under $300, and look at which are the best gas grills for different situations. The $300 price point is a good balance between the high-end grills with fancy features and the low-end grills that might not be big enough or sturdy enough for your needs.
Best Gas Grill Under $300
Here are several high-quality choices for gas grills under the $300 mark. Let’s look at each individually.
Dyna-Glo DGB390SNP-D Smart Space Living 36,000 BTU 3-Burner LP Gas Grill
The Dyna-Glo DGB390SNP-D Smart Space Living 3 Burner Gas Grill is a great choice for those that don’t have a huge amount of space to devote to grilling, but want a powerful, fully featured grill. The grill’s aesthetic is pleasantly modern and approachable, with its black powder coated frame, double-coated stainless steel lid, and porcelain-enameled cast iron cooking grates. The lid includes a built in temperature gauge, which is always helpful, and the side shelves have an integrated towel bar and area to suspend grilling implements. It has an easy-light pilot system and chunky knobs for easy temperature adjustments, and a removable tray and grease trap for easy cleanup. The Dyna-Glo features three burners and 36,000BTU of cooking power in a small frame measuring 29“ in width, with two collapsible side tables and built in locking casters for easy movement in tight spaces. Three steel heat tents protect the burners and help flavor foods. The grates are each 11“ x 18“, totaling 22“ x 18“ of cooking area. It will get up to about 600’ when all three burners are on and the grill lid is closed, so it offers quite a bit of power and can sear with the lid closed. The unit does have a rotisserie option (not included, but can be purchased here). It does require assembly, but is not incredibly difficult to put together. The unit runs on propane and as of right now there is no Natural Gas conversion kit available. The Dyna-Glow DGB390SNP-D Smart Space Living Grill is a great option under $300, and is highly recommended for those who have space constraints on a deck or patio.

The Char-Broil Performance Stainless Steel 4-Burner Cart Style Gas Grill has a few more features than the Dyna-Glo above, but in a larger and less mobile frame. If you have the space, this one may be more appropriate for your needs. The Char-Broil Classic is mostly made of stainless steel, with a black powder-coated base to compliment the stainless frame and lid. This unit also features a temperature gauge in the lid, which is extremely helpful for cooking. It offers four burners and an additional side table warming burner for a great deal of flexibility in temperature control across the unit. It has a larger grill footprint, with 425 sq. inches of cooking area on the main grill, and an additional 180 sq. inches of cooking space on the side burner. The side tables don’t fold down, but they are optional and the user could choose not to install them. Like the Dyna-Glo, it offers an easy-launch lighting system. The Char-Broil Performance offers an easily-removable grease trap system for efficient cleanup. It does not come assembled, but the unit is fairly easy to put together and get running using propane (as of right now there is no option to convert to Natural Gas). The Char-Broil Performance is extremely powerful, and can get very hot, offering excellent searing capabilities when the lid is closed. This grill is an excellent option for the serious griller who is going to leave the unit in place, and has the space for a fairly large grill. It offers a great deal of power at an attractive price.
