Octagonal Shape

The first, most striking aspect of the Intex Jet and Bubble Inflatable Spa is its unique octagonal design. Bubble Jets

The Bubble Jets on the Intex PureSpa Jet Massage unit are placed in a ring along the bottom of the tub, where the tub base meets the walls. 120 small holes are present in this ring, and when the unit is turned on in the bubble setting, air is propelled through these holes, which translates into a relaxing bubbly experience for those inside the tub. Unlike most fixed hot tubs, the bubbles are only dispersed along this ring, as opposed to throughout the base. However, with the great number of holes present on this ring system, there is plenty of movement in this design and a great deal of enjoyment for those inside the spa.

The Massage Jets

Embedded in the walls of the PureSpa Jet and Massage spa are four adjustable air jets, similar to what is commonly found in many fixed hot tubs. These high powered water jets separate the PureSpa Jet Massage from many lesser inflatable hot tubs that do not feature these jets. When turned on, these jets supply pressure and activity through the walls, and when a sore back is rested against these jets, many find that soreness goes away. The jets massage aching joints and soothe weary muscles. Aah, that’s the spot.

Construction and Design

All of the spas Intex makes are made of the same high-quality vinyl material Intex calls Fiber-Tech. The design consists of an inner and outer wall, with channels in between for air. Cris-crossing these walls are a fiber mesh that provides a great deal of strength and resilience to the FiberTech. The material is 3-ply and is puncture and sun-bleach resistant. The Intex portable spa is 28″ high and will be easy for most people to get in and out of without a ladder or step. The Fiber-Tech walls, when fully inflated, are quite stable and allow users to sit on the wall of the tub without causing the walls to collapse. The base of this unit is made of a cushioned thermal ground cloth, which does not inflate like the sides do. The purpose of this base is to separate the tub from the ground, for comfort and insulation. The base acts as the seat for those inside the tub, and there really is no need for additional seating unless users want to be less submerged. The wall height and proper water level of the PureSpa are designed around the assumption that the users will be seated on the floor.

Hard Water System

Hard Water can be uncomfortable on the skin, and Intex has included a handy hard water treatment system to make the water feel very nice and pleasant against the skin, and against bathing suits and even the walls of the tub. Water passes through an electromagnetic hard water filtration system, which removes calcium and other irritants. This filtration will make users feel more comfortable, and will also increase the operating life of the tub, as the minerals are not particularly good for the tub, either!

Water Treatment

Over time, you’ll need additional water filters. The Intex Type S1 filter cartridges are the ones that you need for the PureSpa. To balance your spa’s water, be sure to get a test kit and either pH Down or pH Up, depending on your needs. Then you’ll need Bromine tablets and probably some shock for the first time you get the water going.
