If you continue to crank, the umbrella will tilt, and you can tilt to the exact angle you wish. The crank mechanism is pretty easy to crank, and most will have no trouble operating this umbrella. Some of the moving parts are made of plastic on this umbrella, and the metal for the pole is a little bit thin. There have been many reports of the umbrella shaft bending, snapping, or breaking, so beware, and be sure to properly weight this umbrella with a base weight! One of the frustrations with this umbrella is that it is not particularly repairable if damaged.
