This egg chair by Modway (one of our favorite outdoor furniture brands) will arrive pre-assembled to your house. It comes with one pillow, available in a variety of colors, and, and the rattan seat with or without a stand. The pillow covers are UV-resistant and machine washable, so they’re pretty easy to take care of. While they can handle some time outdoors, it is best to store these in a deck box or other sheltered area, as the weather will rapidly degrade the covers. To maintain the cushion as long as possible, be sure to wash the pillow once in a while as well as wipe it down with a light soap and water solution, especially if it is regularly exposed to the elements. Given that the Modway Encase is made with a synthetic rattan weave, it holds up great in most weather. That said, when winter comes, it’s best to bring this chair inside. It will look great indoors as well! As noted by many who have bought it, you can expect the chair to hold up to 300 pounds, although the manufacturer does not give any upper weight limit on how much it can hold. Most adults should find plenty of space and comfort in it, and it should be able to fit two smaller children separately if they want to enjoy its comfort as well. This hanging basket chair can be used both inside and outside, although its design makes it better for outdoor use. It can swing 360 degrees and its aluminum frame is pronounced, so in some instances it does look better outside.

The X35 egg-shaped hanging chair is certainly more on the lightweight side than some of the other chairs on our list, coming in at only 45 pounds (compared to the previous 124 pounds for the rattan chair). The stand is made of powder-coated steel, and the egg frame is made of aluminum. The weave is constructed of PE-wicker, and all of these materials are suitable for outdoor use. That said, compared to the Encase above, the steel stand here may be more prone to rust over time, so keep your eyes out for bare metal. If you see any, spray with a Rustoleum paint. The X35 is likely a better indoor/outdoor item than Modway’s rattan egg chair, simply because it’s significantly lighter. It is easier to move around where you’d like it and slightly smaller. Unlike Modway’s chair, this one does not come pre-assembled. Once assembled, though, cleaning should be similar - with most attention being paid to the cushion to make sure it is regularly washed. Otherwise, a light detergent solution should be fine in keeping this on the clean as well. Comfort-wise, it’s quite cozy, similar to all of the egg chairs. Christopher Knight Egg Chair Wicker Detail

This egg chair from Christopher Knight is constructed in a similar fashion to the above chairs, with a steel base stand, aluminum egg frame, and PE-wicker weave in a lovely brown color. On top of the chair is a light beige cushion that is quite comfortable. That said, the overall construction of the Tear Drop Chair needs to be analyzed more closely than the first two we have examined. There are a few points of concern which were raised with various customers upon having it for a while. The first of which is that a few of these chairs have managed to break at the point where the chain meets the stand. With that said, the company was quick to replace it when notified. The design of the bottom of the stand can also create hazards for small children getting in and out, as the base actually juts out in front of the swing itself by a little bit - making it so you have to avoid tripping over it when getting out of the chair. Balance is a bit of a concern with these chairs as well, and it’s probably best to not swing around too much in them. Boo. The stand has some flexibility to it, which makes for a comfortable experience of sitting in the chair. However, the consequence of this flexibility is that, if you swing on the chair, you may find that the back of the stand kicks up off the ground, and potentially could topple the chair.

With its low key design and color scheme, this chair will both fit in and stand out in virtually in any setting, inside or out. Many find that you can actually lay the length of the chair comfortably and still fit! This, of course, depends on your height, with around 5’9” being the upper limit of how tall one can be, and still be able to lie down. Another chair that reaps the benefits of its PE-wicker construction, it is UV resistant, viable to be outside for long periods of time (barring the cushion which should be stored away in a storage bench or garage area), and is quite durable. The biggest negative of this chair is that it is difficult to move around, due to its size and weight. You’ll definitely want to bring this one inside when the weather turns so that you can use it in a cozy indoor area. But you may need a hand or three to move it!
